A HARARE woman yesterday told the civil court that her husband’s second wife was in the habit of detaining their man at her house, thereby denying her an equal share of their husband and her conjugal rights.Angeline Muchero said Silvia Mashava was in the habit of coming to her house to verbally abuse her each time their husband visited her place.
This was revealed at the Harare Civil Court where Muchero was seeking a peace order against Mashava.
“I am sick and tired of being embarrassed by this woman because each time our husband visits my place of residence, she comes and causes violence at my house,” she said.
Muchero told Harare Civil Court magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami that Muchero was denying her an equal share of their husband.
“She is the one who is staying with our husband at her place of residence, but whenever our husband visits me she follows him and shouts at me while my neighbours watch”, she said.
Muchero pleaded with Muvhami to bar Mashava from visiting her place of residence.
“I want her barred from coming to my place of residence because she is breaching my peace,” Muchero said.
Mashava denied the allegations but said she was not opposed to Muchero’s application.
“I dispute everything she said because they are all lies, but you can go ahead and grant her the peace order,” Mashava said.
Muvhami granted the order in Muchero’s favour, but he said he could not bar Mashava from visiting Muchero’s residence since they shared the same husband.
