THEY say it’s never too late to follow your passion and for Nkosizile Mhlanga the burning passion of music wouldn’t let him go.

Despite having had no previous experience in the art, Mhlanga, also known as Warrior, decided age won’t stand in his way to release his first single at the age of 30.

The track titled “Ngenani” is a house track that was produced by DJ Mjoks and features Band with No Name lead vocalist, Ishmael Muvingi who goes by the moniker Litshe.

Mhlanga said while he has always had a passion for music he did not take it seriously until the desire to start writing songs became overwhelming.

“I didn’t consider taking up music as a career although I loved it a lot I was more of a consumer but of late I felt the urge to pick up the mic. I have written several songs across genres such as house, hip-hop and gospel but I decided to release Ngenani first although I would be releasing my debut album later this year. I am glad the song has been receiving generous airplay at Skies Metro FM,” he said.

After leaving school in 2003, Mhlanga joined the now defunct Amazulu FC where he rose through the ranks but did not make it to the senior side, prompting him to head for South Africa where he did odd jobs in construction before coming back home.

Born in 1986 in Pelandaba, Mhlanga grew up in Matshobane before moving to Emakhandeni as a teen and still resides in the suburb, where he is being mentored by Litshe.

“Litshe has played a big role assisting me as I enter the music scene. People can watch me perform live for free on Africa Day in Njube, a music show set for Salukazi Arts Centre on Thursday,” he said.
