Entrepreneur of the Week

Our entrepreneur of the week is Mrs Nyaradzo Dhliwayo Moyo, (pictured) founder of start-up Yanaya Lifestyle. A year or so ago, Yanaya was described as a trailblazing start-up with several outlets opened across Harare.

However, the light seemed to have dimmed on the start-up, leaving many speculating on what was happening. However, a week or so ago, Mrs Moyo revealed on her LinkedIn status that her business faced a myriad of challenges, “primarily because we failed to have adequate systems and a robust strategy to support the brand in my absence”. She, however, announced that the Yanaya Lifestyle “is now back”. “As the adage says, the second time is always a charm.

‘‘Our failures of yesteryear have taught us more than any textbook could. Failure has possibly been the greatest blessing we have experienced since we began. We are back for all of it!”

She went on to say buying from Yanaya was as good as helping her company defy the stigma around start-ups in Zimbabwe that die within their first five years.

“This year we celebrate our fifth anniversary and failure is not our portion. Yanaya Lifestyle will not become a statistic of another failed business in Zimbabwe because of your support! We are not defined by our failures but we are defined and use them as stepping stones catapulting us to greater heights!”
