Entumbane business woman fined US$180 for selling unregistered skin-lightening creams

A 40-year-old Bulawayo businesswoman has been fined US$180 for selling various unregistered skin-lightening medicines or creams.

Beauty Muzumbi of Entumbane suburb appeared before Western Commonage magistrate, Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube, on Wednesday facing a charge of unlawful possession of unregistered complementary medicine.

She pleaded guilty to the offence and was initially sentenced to pay a US$180 fine, in default of which she will be sentenced to four months in prison. The fine is payable before April 17.

Prosecutor Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that the accused person is a businesswoman who operates at Entumbane Complex.

He said that on March 16, 2026, the accused person was found at her business premises selling various unregistered skin-lightening medicines by a police officer who was on duty.

The court heard that the accused person was arrested and all the recovered medicines were seized at ZRP Entumbane.
The value of the recovered medicine is US$95, added Mr Dzimbanhete.
