TWO men from Entumbane suburb in Bulawayo have appeared in court facing two counts of theft from a motor vehicle.
Isaac Jemilton (51) and Dzingai Bariri (49) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Progress Murandu.
Jemilton pleaded guilty to the first count and not guilty to the second count while Bariri pleaded not guilty to both counts. They were remanded in custody to September 6 for judgement.
Circumstances are that on August 11, 2024 at around 4:40pm, the duo observed the complainant, August Siziba (35), parking his car, a Nissan NV350 along Robert Mugabe way between 10th and 11th avenuein Bulawayo.
The duo after seeing that the complainant had left then proceeded to unlock his vehicle and stole an HP laptop and cash amounting to US$512.
The total value of stolen property is US$1100 and US$580 was recovered.
The court further heard that the duo stole from another vehicle belonging to Nelson Nashiri (49), which was parked along Tongogara Street between 11th and 12th avenue in Bulawayo.
The duo stole an HP laptop and a Samsung galaxy tab. The value of stolen property is US$1 300 and all was recovered.
Detectives received information from a source that the duo had committed the crimes and investigations were made, leading to the arrest of the duo in their respective homes on June 19, 2024. Upon their arrest, police recovered an HP laptop and a Samsung galaxy tab.
