A daring Entumbane resident on Sunday night disarmed a suspected armed robber who had fired and missed him as he tried to gain entry into the house.

The incident happened around 9pm, soon after the country had experienced a nationwide power outage.

Soon after the shot was fired, the man, known as SaRay, jumped onto the intruder and wrestled with him while biting his finger and at the same time, his wife started screaming for help but some neighbours, who had heard the gunshot first hesitated until another tenant at the house said the intruder missed and had since been disarmed.

“Being close to a sports bar, someone quickly rushed there and advised that a gunshot had been fired. In a show of oneness, the patrons rushed to the scene. They found neighbours who had eventually come to the scene busy administering instant justice to the now clearly overpowered suspect. The patrons never asked questions but pounced on him too,” said a witness.

Begging for mercy, the suspect said he was visiting his girlfriend but got lost.

He failed to explain why he fired a shot. Upon being searched he was found to be in possession of a mask, a body shocker and a metal rod suspected to be used in breaking door locks.

His gun was loaded with four bullets while three were in a small plastic in his pocket.
