Crous, said since his company was a global brand there was need to have representatives across the globe.
“Epson is a global brand so we believe it is vital to have local businesses in each country representing us which is why we have chosen to grow our presence in the Sadc region through a network of local established and experienced technology distributors,” he said.
He further expressed optimism that the two distributors appointed were capable of handling the Zimbabwean clientele as they had done a thorough assessment of all potential distributors before appointing the two.
“After having evaluated a number of distributors in the country, we were most impressed with Mecer IT Distribution and Solid Visions Technology and we are pleased to partner with them and welcome them to the Epson distributor family,” said Mr Crous.
Mecer managing director Mr Max Gwangwadza said his company was up to the challenge of offering quality service to both existing and new customers as they have been in the industry for a long time.
He added that over the years they have been able to establish firm relationships in the local market through their commitment and product knowledge.
“Adding Epson products to our portfolio will give Mecer IT Distribution a further competitive edge in the Zimbabwean market as we will be able to give our dealers access to a brand that is globally recognised for its innovation and superior quality and we look forward to building Epson to be a brand of choice in the country in the coming years,” added Mr Gwangwadza.
Solid Visions Technology was represented by business development officer Mr Simbarashe Kushata, who also expressed his company’s gratitude to Epson as the move would ensure the growth of their business.
“We see our relationship with Epson as a major foundation for our growth going forward and we are confident that the range of Epson products will help us strengthen our reputation of being a one-stop shop for all customers in the country who want outstanding service, excellent product support and the world’s most advanced and innovative products,” said Mr Kushata.
Epson also took the opportunity to unveil some of its latest products on the market, among them the Epson TM-S9000MJ 3-in-1 scanner and printer that is targeted at the financial services sector for document verification among other functions.
“We are also happy to unveil our 3-in-1 scanner that is a first for the banking sector as it is a colour cheque scanner, endorsement printer, receipt printer and it can scan up to 200 documents per minute while its MICR recognition accuracy is more than 99,9 percent,” added Mr Crous.
Epson now manages sales and support in 21 sub-Saharan African countries that include South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda and Zimbabwe while it is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa.
