CHURCH leaders’ wives under the Working with People’s Trust on Tuesday presented residential stands to 14 youths and 10 women in Epworth.
It’s part of their empowerment drive and fight against crime.
The stands were donated by Apostle Murata’s wife, Ottilia Murata.
Handing over the stands, Trust chairperson, Reverend Ellen Mwale, said decent accommodation plays a big role in shaping people’s characters.
“We have a number of youths living in shelters where there is no property at all,” said Rev Mwale.
“Such youths have a bad character and do not value other people’s values.
“Mwana anogara pamba pakanaka anowana mukana wekuchengetedza nzvimbo yaanorara nekurongedza zvekudya zvake pakanaka.
“If you value where you sleep you also consider securing the place and keep it looking presentable.”
She said they wanted to see responsible youths who value their lives and other people’s lives too.
“Stop abusing drugs, join projects meant to change your lives and have better accommodation.
“Crime does not pay, avoid providing free labour as a prison inmate by committing crimes,” said Rev Mwale.
