PROMOTED Absa Premier Soccer League outfit Chippa United are delighted to have Warriors star player Eric Chipeta in their books.
United chief operations officer Peter Koutrolis told Chronicle Sport recently: “Chipeta will add value to the club, he is one of the players we have targeted to strengthen our defence. Now that he has signed with us definitely he will marshal our defence as we will be campaigning in a much competitive league.”
Koutrolis said that the Hwange defender is a top class player with unbelievable skills and they never hesitated to give the skillful Zimbabwean a two-year contract.
He said South African fans already know Chipeta from the past Chan tournament where his performances attracted their attention.
Chipeta will not be the first Zimbabwean to play for Chippa United.
Benjani Mwaruwari, formerly with Manchester City, has also played for the club. He was there during the 2012/13 season when they were relegated before he moved to Wits University.
Another Zimbabwean who has worked at the club is former Black Aces ace Wilfred “Silver Fox” Mugeyi who was the team’s assistant coach.
Chipeta will be joining United next month.
