Recent violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers and security forces in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, has caused alarm and calls are getting louder for the urgent need to dismantle illegal settlements and end Israel’s occupation of Palestine.

Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr Tamer Almassri, has called for urgent action to address the longstanding grievances.Ambassador Almassri emphasised the detrimental impact of settlements on Palestinian communities and called them a violation of international law.
He urged the international community to pressure on Israel to halt settlement expansion, dismantle existing settlements, and abide by international law.
“The Palestinian people will continue to resist what they view as the last apartheid state, using internationally recognised means to achieve an independent state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital,” he said.
“Despite hardship, they remain determined.”
