Eto’o sells ICASA dummy

SAMUEL Eto’o who is the Global Fund ambassador to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria failed to make it to the International Conference on AIDS and sexually transmitted infections in Africa.

He was billed to officially open the Community Village.

Youths were not chaffed with the sudden turn of events as they had anticipated the star to sign off their caps and T-shirts. The Community Village was finally opened by UNAIDS executive director, Mr Michel Sidibe and the Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr David Parirenyatwa.Health ministers who made it to ICASA are from Swaziland, Namibia, Uganda and Angola.

The UN family was fully represented. The US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) was represented by Ambassador at Large, Deborah L Birx.

Ambassador Birx is a renowned medical expert in the field of HIV and Aids, immunology, vaccine research, global health and is the co-ordinator of the United States government activities to combat HIV and Aids She oversees implementation of the PEPFAR fund.
