ITa��S back to the old school in nostalgic fashion for Zimbabwe Saints as one of the teama��s prominent sons is leading the teama��s revival from grassroots level.
Former Saints midfielder Eddie Mukahanana based in Europe and largely involved with coaching young children announced the birth of Saints FC Academy.
a�?I would like to thank EM Sports Academy players and fans for your support over the years. On 1 June, we are moving our project to Saints FC Academy, a a�?sistera�? club to former Premier Soccer League Champions Zimbabwe Saints FC,a�? said Mukahanana.
He said the academy, which is based at Sotshangane Grounds in Nguboyenja Bulawayo, has teams at Under 14, 16 and 18 that play in the Bulawayoa��s Serie A Junior League.
a�?As we wait for Zimbabwe Saints to return, the goal of the academy is to provide a long term player development path for players that could play for Zimbabwe Saints in future,a�? said Mukahanana.
Two years ago, EM Sports Academy reportedly provided Zimbabwe Saints with seven players when they were playing in the then Zifa Southern Region Division One League.
Last year, the academy gave Saints six players for their Southern Region Division Two League campaign.
The Zimbabwe Saints senior team was recently booted out of the Division Two League after failing to pay affiliation fees and for not to fulfilling three consecutive matches.
Chauya Chikwata is one of the countrya��s famed clubs that was once home to exciting players that included Henry McKop, Muzondiwa Mugadza, Ephraim Chawanda, Ronald a�?Gidizaa�? Sibanda and Agent a�?Ajiraa�? Sawu among others.
