Ex Bosso, Young Warriors player Mandla Nkomo dies

Online Reporter
FORMER Highlanders player Mandla Nkomo has died.
His uncle Jabulani Nkomo said Mandla passed on at Mpilo Hospital on Tuesday morning at the age of 40 after a long illness.
“He has not been well for some time. Mandla was born of God fearing Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) parents and grew up to be a fine sportsperson. And as parents we were proud he qualified to wear the Bosso (Highlanders) colours, a feat many yearn for but never achieve. We are sad that he has been taken away from us at such a young age. We will miss him dearly,” said Jabulani adding that the deceased will be buried on Friday.
Nkomo played for the Highlanders juniors and graduated into the first team in 2005 and was part of the league winning team of 2006 and reached new heights when he was fielded against African giants Aly Ahly in the African Champions League in 2007.
It has been a bad week for Zimbabwean football with former Black Horrors hero Grey Ncube and referee Juadh Nsingo passing on.
The funeral service will be conducted at First Funeral Parlour
Mandla, a former Zimbabwe youth international, leaves behind two children.
Mourners are gathered at house number 591 Nkulumane 5.
