Ex-boyfriend takes woman to court

A Harare woman, Vimbai Makandiwa, was yesterday taken to court by ex-boyfriend Mr Aubrey Chadema for allegedly causing havoc in his life.

The matter was heard by Harare Civil Court magistrate Ms Tamara Chibindi.

Mr Chadema told the court that he no longer had peace because of Makandiwa’s behaviour.

“She has been physically abusing me. My children are now even scared of her because of her violence. Recently, she trespassed into my house by jumping over the perimeter wall and took away my Mercedes Benz C180, which I had given her to use during the time we were lovers,” he said.

Mr Chadema said he reported the assault case under RRB3220822 at Borrowdale Police Station, and that of trespassing under RRB5363598.

In response, Makandiwa through her lawyer denied the allegations. She argued she was the one who should be given a protection order against Mr Chadema who abused her physically and emotionally.

“I suffer emotional and verbal abuse from the applicant and was once admitted to the hospital because of that,” said Vimbai.

Ms Chibindi granted the protection order to Mr Chadema and Makandiwa was ordered not to threaten, harass or insult him. She was also forbidden from entering Mr Chadema’s house.

The vehicle matter is pending in a criminal court.
