Ex-Chitungwiza councillor arrested over bribery

A former Chitungwiza councillor has been arrested in connection with an attempt to bribe the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission officers investigating a case of corruption involving a municipality official.

Charamba Mlambo, a former Ward 7 councillor under Zengeza 2, Chitungwiza wanted to bribe the ZACC team for them to release one Lorrie Motsi, a suspect in a case of criminal abuse of duty.

His bid backfired when he landed in a trap leading to his arrest.

He is set to appear in court this afternoon charged with bribery.

Charamba has known records of previous conviction having been recently convicted of fraud at Chitungwiza Magistrates Courts.
