Sungura artiste Wellington Mushangwe and the Tatonga Kwedu Crew is to release a six track album tittled “Hezvo Zvoitika” next week. The 36- year old singer from Seke is a former rhythm lead guitarist for Devera Ngwena Jazz band fronted by the music legend Jonah Moyo now based in South Africa.

The album includes tracks like “Anoda Ndishaure”, “Vanondishora shora”, Kushaiwa Nyadzi”, Hakusi Kudakwangu”, “Nguva Yatirikurarama” and “Tsika dzedu dzekare”.

Mushangwe’s music encourages the society to uphold their cultural values and to live in harmony while supporting each other.

With his fresh, mature musical project especially on the songs like “Anoda Ndishaure” and “Nguva Yatirikurarama” the upcoming musician is worth keeping an eye on in the Sungura genre.

The talented musician started singing at a tender age of 15 with Jonah Moyo who happened to be his mentor.
He recorded his first album titled “Ngatibatanidzei” within the Devera Ngwena Jazz Band.

He left Devera Ngwena Jazz Band in 2002 with Jona Moyo’s blessings to start his own outfit Tatonga Kwedu Crew.
In 2003 he released another album titled “Maguta kubva munzara”.

He however could not continue with his musical career due to lack of funds . He made a comeback in 2009 with a striking album “Tinosvika Chete” the one that brought him fame especially the title track that is still receiving good airplay even up to this day.

Mushangwe expressed gratitude to his fans for the support they gave him during the trying times.

“When I released Tinosvika Chete in 2009 I believed one day we would make it in the industry, the album was well received and I would want to believe it is the one that moulded me to what I am today.

Now Hezvo Zvoitika it’s just the fulfilment of our wishes that one day we will make it in the industry” he said.
The talented musician said music was within his family, saying he started singing with his two brothers though they passed away before fulfilling their wishes.

Mushangwe said he was inspired by the music of Leonard Dembo and always wished to get up to his stage.
He believes that artistes should bring variety in the genre rather than being copycats, saying that practice was ruining the music industry without bringing variety.

His sentiments are indeed true because music is totally different from that of his former paymaster Jona Moyo.
The sungura artiste has started holding live shows within and outside the town and hopes that his music would be well received.
