Onwell Ndoro (40) misrepresented that the client had given him the greenlight to collect the money on his behalf. Ndoro pleaded guilty to fraud charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Shane Kubonera. He will be sentenced on Monday next week. The complainant is GMB represented by Mr Fidelis Motsi the loss control officer. The agreed facts are that sometime in October last year,
Stanley Mapfumo delivered his wheat to GMB Msasa.
He delivered 30 tonnes of wheat and was told that it had too much moisture content. He was then given a shade to dry the wheat at the depot.
When the wheat dried up it was taken to a weighbridge by a tractor belonging to GMB. He was not paid on the spot and was told to check for payment later. In December last year he went to GMB and was given $4 161 and was told to come for the remainder after a month. After the month lapsed Mr Mapfumo went back to GMB to check for his money and was told by Terrence Masiya that he had already collected his outstanding money. Upon checking the records, the State says it was discovered that Ndoro had misrepresented to Masiya that he had been authorised by Mapfumo to collect the money.
