Uncle raped me: Girl (16)

Maliselo (64) appeared before regional magistrate Mr Never Katiyo.
He was remanded out of custody to September 2 this year on US$100 bail.

As part of the bail conditions, Maliselo was ordered not to interfere with State witnesses and continue residing at the given address.
Prosecutor Mr Editor Mavuto alleges that on an unknown date in 2005 when the girl was in Grade Four her aunt went to South Africa leaving her in the custody of Maliselo.

The court heard that the following day Maliselo allegedly called the girl into his bedroom, removed her clothes and instructed her to lie on her back on his bed and he raped her.
It is alleged that he threatened to chase the girl who was an orphan away if she revealed the matter to anyone.

The girl informed Maliselo’s daughter about her ordeal but she did not believe her, the court heard.
The matter came to light when the girl confided in her teacher on January 17 this year who in turn filed a police report prompting Maliselo’s arrest.
