A BULAWAYO woman’s nightmare unfolded in Old Magwegwe when her 38-year-old ex-husband allegedly broke into her home and raped her twice.
Brighton Dube appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Mr Mark Dzira facing charges of rape. He was remanded in custody to 1 October.
Prosecutor Hazel Ncube told the court that on 27 July at around 4AM, Dube, accompanied by a friend, smashed a bedroom window to gain entry. The victim was reportedly asleep with her boyfriend at the time.
‘’The accused’s friend chased the boyfriend away. He then dragged the complainant from her bedroom to the sitting room where children were sleeping,’’ Ms Ncube said. ‘’He switched off the lights, ordered her to lie on blankets and raped her.’’
The victim underwent a medical examination, and a medical affidavit will be presented as evidence in court.
