In addition Nyandoro was slapped with a four-month jail term which was wholly suspended for five years on condition he does not commit a similar offence within that period.
Magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma convicted Nyandoro of possessing pornographic material and criminal insult after a full trial.
In passing the sentence, Ms Tshuma took into consideration that Nyandoro lost his job as a result of the offence.
Ms Francesca Mukumbiri had called for a custodial sentence arguing that fine or community service would trivialise the offence.
She told the court that Nyandoro’s moral blameworthness was very high considering that complainant was his surbodinate.
“This case might be a tip of an iceberg of what is happening at workplaces where women are sexualy harassed and suffering in silence, it took a lot of courage for the woman to report. The court must frawn at such behaviour,” said Ms Tshuma.
On June 16 last year Nyandoro went into Ms Ms Rutendo Hakutangwe’s office with his laptop playing a pornographic video and placed it in front of her to watch.
Ms Hakutangwe closed the laptop after being shocked with the explicit video. Nyandoro removed the disc from his laptop and placed it on Hakutangwe’s table before leaving for his office.
Ms Hakutangwe told Nyandoro to take his disc, but he ignored her.
She informed her superiors, Siphilisiwe Kainga and Dr Silindelo Nomutenda about the incident before reporting the case to the police.
