Ex-PSMAS employee ordered to pay US$120 or face arrest

A FORMER PSMAS employee has been taken to court by his ex-wife, who claimed US$500 maintenance for their minor child.

Patience Mangwiro said she needed the money from her former husband, Daniel Dzawirima, for the medication needed for their child.

“I want US$500, he sells cars and also works at PSMAS, so he can afford the money.

“I also want him to help me get a birth certificate for our child,” said Patience.

Medical and consultation receipts were submitted in court and accepted as exhibits.

However, Daniel offered US$50 saying that he was unemployed.

“Your Worship, you are aware of the PSMAS scandals. I stopped working in April.

“The company told us that it will give us our salaries from November when it is in a position to pay.

“She is lying that she pays medical bills because the child is on medical aid,” he said.

Daniel’s retrenchment letter was also accepted as an exhibit.

“The child needs special care and PSMAS medical aid is not accepted in any hospital, and I am using my own money,” said Patience.

Magistrate Ayanda Dlamini ordered Daniel to pay US$120 or face arrest.
