FORMER Railstars Football Club’s long- serving administrator Kenny Mavhudza died after suffering a stroke and was laid to rest at West Park Cemetery in Bulawayo last Saturday.
Mavhudza, said to have been in his mid-50s was organising secretary when Railstars were promoted into the Premier Soccer League in 1997 and was chairman when Njanji became defunct in 2012.

A close friend of the late soccer administrator Ernest Zimuto, an ex-Zimbabwe Saints vice-chairman himself said Mavhudza died on 3 September from a stroke and is survived by his wife and two children.

Ex-Railstars player and coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu who worked with Mavhudza in both capacities described his death as a sad one for football as the man was passionate about the game.

“I still remember when I joined Railstars from Ziscosteel he was one of the negotiators. I worked with him for years within the structures. He was one of the guys who pushed me into coaching when he encouraged me to coach the juniors. He was instrumental in bringing me back to Railstars from Kujatana. I worked with him until 2011. He was a football person, he was part and parcel of the game, he lived football,’’ said Mpofu.
