FORMER Ellis Gledhill student has ventured into the Zim dancehall fraternity by storm by releasing an album titled Zvazobhadhara. Gladys Maphosa, whose stage name is Lady G, is likely to be a threat to upcoming dancehall musicians because of her powerful and mature lyrics. Her mature lyrics have captured the hearts of many and two of her songs, Tafamba Mamaira and Takumberi on the new album are already topping charts on local radio station Diamond FM top ten countdown.
Other potential hits are Titsvage Mari, Mangoma, Zvazobhadhara, Ndafunga iwe and Usazondisiye featuring Dearly. Most of her tracks have been receiving fair airplay on local radio stations, something that has propelled the budding musician to stardom.
“It is a great motivation that most of my songs are being played on radio. I started recording demo tapes in 2013. Music is a passion but I am contemplating taking it seriously. My fans have been a great inspiration and I am motivated to work even harder. I intend to stage more live performances to build my confidence. I am currently engaging local promoters to see me through the journey. I believe my future is bright if I keep focused,” said the talented musician.
She is inspired by Jamaican star Gazaslim and self proclaimed dancehall queen, Sandra Gazi, popularly known as Lady Squanda.
“The feedback is inspiring. I am working on new projects that I intend to release before the year ends. I am enjoying this. I want to make my fans happy,” added Lady G.
