Exam fail rage dad jailed

A MAN has been jailed after violentl lashing out at his daughter for coming home with less-than-impressive A’ Level results.
Cassien Bhanditi, 47, of Mkoba 14 in Gweru, rained fists on his 19-year-old daughter, Primrose, after she “performed below expectations” in the November 2013 Zimsec exams, a court heard.
When his wife, Violet Chabata, tried to intervene and pull him away from their daughter, Bhanditi vented his frustrations on her – but this time used a sjambok in a sustained brutal attack.

On Thursday, Bhanditi was jailed for nine months by Gweru Magistrate Gertrude Mayonyose after being found guilty of assault.
Three months of the sentence were conditionally suspended.

Ackson Kadungure, prosecuting, said Bhanditi arrived home shortly after 6PM on February 3 and lost his rag after being shown his daughter’s results.

“In his anger, he started assaulting his daughter several times using fists. When his wife tried to intervene, he stopped assaulting his daughter and instead began to unleash his frustrations on his poor wife,” Kadungure said.

His wife sustained a swollen eye and bruises all over the body in the attack. She was treated at Gweru Provincial Hospital and discharged.
