will hold its summit from March 29 to 30 in Kadoma where local authorities will be recognised for their efforts in fighting gender based violence and initiating projects on women empowerment. In a statement, Gender Links — the conveners of the summit said the Johannesburg meeting will, for the first time, be preceded by pre-selection country summits.
“We have gone to great lengths this year to broaden participation and ownership by starting with country summits in some countries, leading up to the regional summit. We are hoping for a bumper number of entries and robust participation,” ,” said Gender Links chief executive officer Collen Lowe Morna.
Other selected countries holding the pre-conferences are Mauritius, Zambia, Namibia, Madagascar and Botswana.
In Zimbabwe, almost half of the 92 local authorities, have so far submitted their entries in various categories.
