now seized with the Constitution-making process to guide them when elections were likely to be held.

He was addressing party officials at a meeting dubbed “MDC’s conditions for a sustainable election in Zimbabwe”.
Some of the conditions included security sector and media reforms and reconstitution of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
Mr Tsvangirai, who is also Prime Minister in the inclusive Government, said political violence had characterised previous elections and called for violence-free polls.

“As a party, our participation will largely depend on the implementation of these conditions. We are not afraid of elections, we will definitely not participate in a war, we will not be stampeded to participate,” he said.

Mr Tsvangirai claimed President Mugabe will have to agree with him on the date of the elections. He said the election date will be process driven because there were processes that were supposed to be followed before the polls.

Party secretary general Mr Tendai Biti outlined the conditions, which he said were already provided for in the GPA.
He said there was need for the implementation of the agreed issues in the GPA.
Mr Biti said there was need for the integrity and security of the votes.
