Excitement has gripped the market over The Herald Community Heroes Awards, with nominations closing today.

As of yesterday, about 920 nominations had been received from across the country’s 10 provinces.

The event is scheduled to take place next month at the Harare International Conference Centre.

The adjudication team will start working on the winners from December 1.

The Community Heroes Awards are a call to action, encouraging Zimbabweans to recognise and appreciate the selfless efforts of individuals who are making a difference in their communities.

Organised by the country’s leading newspaper, The Herald, the awards aim to honour unsung heroes, outstanding personalities from each province who are making a significant impact in their communities.

The awards, a brainchild of The Herald Editor Victoria Ruzvidzo, will be hosted by radio personality Nicola Dora (Nikki) and journalist Africa Moyo.

The event promises to be a red-carpet affair with top-notch entertainment.

“The Community Heroes Awards are a celebration of love, kindness, and selflessness,” said Ruzvidzo.

“By honouring these unsung heroes, we are promoting a culture of caring and appreciation for those who make a difference in their communities.”

“Again, by appreciating these unsung heroes, The Herald is promoting a culture of kindness, compassion, and community service.

“The awards are a reminder that everyone has the power to make a positive impact in their community. The Community Heroes Awards are a celebration of the human spirit, and The Herald is proud to be at the forefront of this initiative,” explained The Herald Editor.

The Community Heroes Awards are a master-stroke in recognising the contributions of real influencers, often overlooked in favour of prominent figures.

The Herald’s initiative is a testament to the media house’s commitment to giving back to the community.

As the oldest and leading publisher and printer since 1891, The Herald is setting a new trend by recognising and rewarding unsung heroes.
