More than 250 people participated in an exhibition at the cultural centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to honour the memory of over 1 000 martyrs who lost their lives due to the Israeli regime’s aggression against Iran.
The exhibition featured poignant displays that documented the tragic impact of the 12-day war against Iran, showcasing the suffering of scientists, women, and children targeted during the conflict.
Addressing the gathering, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, said the exhibition is set to highlight the crimes committed by the Zionist regime during the 12-day war against Iran.
“These images showcase how scientists, civilians, children, and women were tragically targeted in acts of terror,” he said.
“As you are aware, the Israeli regime continues to carry out daily attacks on the Palestinian people, killing dozens of innocent civilians, including women and children. In Gaza, the humanitarian situation is catastrophic.”
The exhibition was a vibrant commemoration bringing together students from institutions such as Empire College, Bright Future Academy, Education Solutions Academy, Kingstone College, Shalom High School, and Mt. Olives High School, highlighting the mutual relationship and cultural exchange between the two countries.
In his sentiment, Zimbabwe Amalgamated Council of Churches National chairman Bishop Nhamo Gwete denounced Israel for killing innocent civilians.
“As a Christian organisation, we are in solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran and those children, scientists and innocent people who were killed by aggressive Israel,” said Mr Gwete.
“We support peace and peace table talks that were brought to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel because without peace, no development, but destruction and killing of knowledge and future.
The Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Zimbabwe, President Sheikh Ismail Duwa, said recent events surrounding Iran serve as a testament to the nation’s resilience and unwavering faith in Allah.
“Despite facing unprovoked aggression, Iran has stood firm in its defence, proving that the might of its spirit cannot be subdued,” he said.
“As we reflect on these circumstances, it is crucial for the American and British allies to reconsider any aspirations of conquering this proud nation,” he said.
