Around this time last year, a revolution took place in Zimbabwe which saw the stepping down of former president Robert Gabriel Mugabe and masses taking to the streets to celebrate.
The Visual Artists Association of Bulawayo (V.A.A.B)’s 32nd annual exhibition being run under the theme ‘Amalevels’ will put into the spotlight, the Zimbabwean events that happened last year weighing in on terminologies like ‘Asante Sana’ and how they have impacted on people’s lives.
The exhibition is set to take place at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on December 14.
“Amalevels will make statements based on observation, hearsay, research, news, lies and other verifiable sources with the bold statement centred on what is happening now,” said Clifford Zulu, organiser of the event.
He said submissions for the exhibition are open to V.A.A.B members who have fully paid the $15 submission fee and the deadline for submitting artworks is November 30.
