THE Harare City FC technical team is set for a major overhaul with Philani a?Beefya? Ncube likely to be shown the door and replaced by former Warriors assistant coach Mkhuphali Masuku.
The decision will be rubber-stamped by the club executive when it meets for a crunch meeting to review Ncubeas performance for the 2017 season.
IN…Mkhuphali MasukuPart of the agreement in the contract signed between Ncube and Harare City FC was that the coach would keep the team in the lucrative Premier Soccer League.
Ncube failed to keep the Sunshine Boys in the PSL.
a?One of the targets set for the coach when he was hired was to keep the team in the PSL and he failed to do that. The executive will meet over the weekend to review the performance of the team and make an informed decision on the future of the coach,a? said club secretary general Matthew Marara.
What makes Ncubeas situation trickier is that Harare City FC have dismissed the possibility of acquiring a franchise to buy their way back into the 2018 season.
The club already has a team in the Zifa Northern Region Division One league coached by Masuku, a veteran gaffer who at one time coached their senior team and even worked with former Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa.
a?We are going to keep our already existing Division One team, which has a lot of youngsters, intact. If we are going to bounce back into the PSL then our Division One team will have to work hard to do just that,a? he said. And the future of current senior players hangs in the balance.
Harare City FC will approach contracted players such as Farai Madhananga, Martin Vengesai, William Manondo and Jimmy Tigere among others on an individual level to map the future.
a?It is likely some of our senior players will opt to join other teams and stay in the PSL and in that case we will not stand in the way of those that want to leave,a? he added.
Ncubeas contract with Harare City FC expires at the end of 2018.
