adminnot a holder of a valid blasters’ licence pleaded not guilty to contravening section (3) (1) of the Explosives Act when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe.
Mr Mahwe remanded him to January 21 on US$50 bail coupled with stringent conditions.
He should report to CID Minerals every Friday and to reside at the given address until the matter is finalised.
Prosecutor Mr Tungamirai Chakurira alleges that on January 11, the unsuspecting Chingaya armed with eight fuses and seven dynamites received a call from prospective buyers and was asked to come at Barca Restaurant in Harare. Unbeknown to him, the buyers were police officers. Chingaya went to the place where he met the detectives from CID Minerals.
They asked him to show them the explosives and he did.
After that they produced their identification cards and informed him that he was under arrest.
