FA Cup has different atmosphere: Van Gaal

MANCHESTER UNITED manager Louis van Gaal says fans and supporters give the FA Cup “a different atmosphere” to other domestic cup competitions in Europe. Eleven-times-winners United travel to League Two Cambridge United for their fourth round tie live on BBC One today, and van Gaal says fans place a higher importance on winning the cup in England than they do in Spain, Germany or the Netherlands, leading to higher attendances.

Van Gaal insists that he will prepare his team in exactly the same way as he would for Premier League opposition, and warns that his players cannot believe they are facing a weaker opponent or they will be knocked out. — BBC Sport.
