Face of Zim pageant reaches home stretch

Some of the contestants who have qualified include Natasha Leigh, Lethukuthula Sibanda, Aisha Chantelle De Beer, Chiedza Mukucha, Bianca Mpopoma, Victoria Chidarikire, Yeukai Goremushandu, Sarah Eve de Ruit, and Mellisa Moyo.
The reigning Miss February Face of Zimbabwe, Gamuchirai Maziva, will not be eligible to compete as she has since resigned because of a case of alleged abortion that is before the country’s courts.
The online pageant is based on public voting which is moderated by a panel of judges who select a winner every month.
The panel of judges consist of US based Afro Jazz musician Cee Jay Besa, Ireland based presenter Priscilla Nelana, UK based model Caroline Kambukami and South African-based actor Melgin Tafirenyika.
An exciting line up of artistes expected to perform on the night include Winky D, Sulumani Chimbetu, Ammara Brown, Nox, Stunner and ExQ.
Speaking on their partnership with Gtel, Face of Zimbabwe marketing director Mike Tashaya said: “We are delighted to work with G-Telecoms as the headline sponsor for the 2012 competition.
“We have a vision of growing Face of Zimbabwe into one of the biggest pageants in the country through the beauty of our women both local and abroad and our many tourist attractions.” Now in its second season, Face of Zimbabwe is an international pageant which seeks to market Zimbabwe to other countries through the beauty of its people while raising funds for charity.
The competition has so far attracted Zimbabwean contestants based in South Africa, USA, China, UK, Malaysia, Canada and New Zealand.
The reigning Face of Zimbabwe is Sibo Bero, a medical student based in China.
