Dr Masimba Mavaza
The speech of shame by Fadzai Mahere has exposed CCC’s treacherous tendencies.
Mahere made very serious allegations against her own country.
Issues raised by Mahere are unfounded untrue and overly confused.
Whenever there are elections there is a lot of falsehoods levelled against Zimbabwe and it is not new coming from Mahere and the CCC.
Zimbabwe observes the constitutional right of every citizen.
When the Zimbabwean government arrests law breakers they should not be victimised for this.
People will always face the the consequences of their actions.
It is the government’s duty to maintain law and order. Even Trump is facing allegations regardless of him being a candidate in the coming elections.
Mahere tries to put it that her arrest was politically motivated.
What Mahere is talking about is ridiculous and mischievous.
We are seeing a group of people who want to get into power by bad mouthing their nation.
This group – CCC are becoming the black ship.
They demean the president. Each time they get an oportunity on an international level, they use it to scandalise Zimbabwe.
Instead of advocating for human rights they demonise Zimbabwe.
CCC are a classic example of bad politicians who have failed to win but demonise the country for their own good.
In her speech, Mahere touches on various subjects.
1. She touched on prison conditions in Zimbabwe. In dramatising the conditions of our prisons, Mahere went on to tell the conference that she woke up with no panties in a woman’s prison. We have no verification that she had panties when she arrived in prison or when she was arrested. Mahere is known of being a free woman who does not put on any pants any time. Did she even put it on on this day, we may never know.
2. She raised issues of impartiality and judicial independence. She is imputing that the courts are under the spell of Zanu PF. This allegation is not new. It is what they always say when we are near elections.
3. Mahere alleged police brutality – again this is a tired song. CCC has always accused the police of brutality and further made ridiculous claims alleging that Zanu PF is interfering with courts. Mahere and the CCC want a situation where they are not arrested for crimes they commit. They interpret that to be police brutality.
Where Mahere is trying to get the world act is to portray Zimbabwe as a country which kills children. She is saying an infant was killed by a police officer. This is said to invoke world emotions. When people start saying, around the world, police are killing babies they are demonising the country and the police.
You can accuse government on many things. When it comes to killing the babies it suggests the Government is worse than animals. When government is portrayed as killing babies it is serious.
The world sat and listened to a convicted criminal called Mahere emotionally blackmailing the world.
She alleges the police to be working against the people.
She attacks judicial independence and Constitutional independence.
Prison conditions are unbearable where she said she has no pant. We can not veryfy that.
Police have arrested several people who are not opposition members, people who are Zanu PF actually. ZAAC arrests everyone regardless of political affiliation. The police service is totally independent.
Allegations of incompetence as opposed to allegations of partisanship should be made very clear. When one acts incompetently, he is not sent by Zanu PF.
If a drunken or an incompetent policeman hits a bus and a child dies does it mean he is under the spell of Zanu PF.
After all in this case no child died and Mahere’s assertions are laughable.
It does not mean that officers are free from human mistakes. You need political maturity to distinguish between incompetence and a mistake. You do not need to speculate you need to have the facts.
The case was played out in court and justice was done.
What does Downing Street have to do with old Bailey. How does one join the government in the court process.
When someone is at an international forum he or she is advocating for something. She had no evidence of her submissions.
During her five minute lie she never showed any emotions, she was lying through a straight face.
Zimbabwe must realise that Mahere is a political opponent, she has a motive to lie. She Is a convicted criminal with political and personal interests.
All she said were assertions which can and are not verifiable.
Unfortunately we can not comment on individual cases.
We have prison inspectors and if there are complaints we have a complaint system and prisons has never received a complaint from her.
She did not complain to anyone. If she was not invited to Geneva to her bosses, how was she going to share this. She did not follow the complaint procedure.
Are the allegations bonafide?
The government did not prosecute her. She was prosecuted by the Prosecution Department. Her choice of words was not a mistake, it was deliberate.
The only interface between the government and Prosecution is on salary. On discharge of professional duties, the prosecution is separated from the government.
The government is not an active actor. It demonstrates that this story is a contrived story.
These allegations are dangerous as they will build a case for regime change based on the allegations which are unfounded.
There is no moral justification in interfering with Silhala’s case and that’s why they say Government is killing children so that they get world sympathy through lies.
In America the police kill children and black people, are they sent by government?
How does one think that it was political violence when police are in the course of their duties.
Delegitimisation of a government is what Mahere seeks to do by accusing the Zimbabwean Government for killing children.
When a government kills children it loses its legitimacy.
When Mahere accused the police for killing a child, she must prove that the police were set out to kill the child. If the defendant did not know, how could the Government know.
She has gone all out on a smearing campaign.
How does that help the family of the child.
Mahere was building her profile and a political profile. She did not care what her actions will do on Zimbabwe.
We must know that Zimbabwe is the only country we can call ours. Let us not be fooled by the CCC speeches to their handlers.
