FC PLATINUM have reaffirmed their faith in head coach Joel Luphahla despite a challenging first half of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season that has left the former champions in 10th place with 26 points.

The Zvishavane side have struggled for consistency this term, with disappointing results leading to growing frustration among supporters. However, the club has chosen to stand by its coach and strengthen the squad ahead of the second half of the campaign.

The club’s activity in the transfer market signals confidence in Luphahla and the direction he is taking, with several new arrivals brought in to address weaknesses exposed during the opening rounds of the season.

Despite the pressure that comes with FC Platinum’s high standards, Luphahla believes the team is making progress and remains confident better days lie ahead.

“I know sometimes if the team is not performing well people start to have doubts about the project we are creating but for us I think we are creating a team that will be difficult to beat. Already we are a difficult team to play but you need to get goals if you want to win matches,” said Luphahla.

One of FC Platinum’s biggest problems this season has been converting chances into goals, something the coach says the club has targeted during the transfer window.

“We have been missing chances we should be scoring. That is why we went to the market for a proven goal scorer and let’s hope the coming players will help turn the fortunes of this club,” he said.

Among the new faces at the club is Botswana winger Mcebisi Moyo, who joins from Sua Flamingoes. Moyo earned a strong reputation in Botswana’s FNB Premiership and is expected to add pace, creativity and attacking quality in the final third.

FC Platinum have also strengthened their defence with the signing of Namibian international Vitapi Ngaruka from reigning Namibian champions African Stars. The defender arrives with valuable top-level experience and is expected to bring greater solidity at the back.

In attack, the club has secured the services of Namibian striker Isaskar Gurirab from Scottland FC. Gurirab previously worked with Luphahla at Simba Bhora, and FC Platinum will be hoping that understanding helps improve their output in front of goal.

The midfield has also received a boost with the arrival of Tanzanian international Baraka Majogoro, formerly of South African side Chippa United. His versatility and experience are expected to provide more options in the middle of the park.

Away from the new signings, FC Platinum have also moved to maintain stability within the squad by extending the contracts of captain Mbongeni Ndlovu and vice-captain Hagiazo Magaya.

The decision ensures the club retains experienced leaders in the dressing room as it looks to improve performances and climb the league table in the second half of the season.

For FC Platinum, the message is clear. The club remains firmly behind Luphahla and believes the additions made during the transfer window can help turn a disappointing campaign into a positive one.
