A 13-YEAR-OLD girl was allegedly raped several times by a neighbour after she ran away from home to avoid punishment.
Police said the girl met Learnmore Marufu, 30, at around 10pm, after she ran away from home.
She had been reprimanded by her parents.
The Grade 6 learner had been threatened with disciplinary action after she was accused of responding rudely to her parents following concerns about her late preparation of supper.
The girl became upset, with the way she was rebuked, and fled to a nearby bushy area, where she met Marufu.
After a while, the girl’s parents tracked her down and saw her in Marufu’s company.
The police report said the two fled and the parents were unable to locate the duo.
Marufu took the teenager to his friend’s home where he allegedly repeatedly raped her throughout the night without protection. The following day, at about 10am, Marufu allegedly went to Whitehouse Shops where he bought black plastic shoes, which he gave to the girl.
He then told her to return home and advise her parents that she had slept in a bushy area.
But, when the girl returned home, she told her parents that she had been raped.
Her parents then escorted her to the Whitehouse ZRP Post, where she filed a report that led to Marufu’s arrest. Police were not immediately available for comment.
However, H-Metro was informed that the case was reported at ZRP Marimba under RRB 6857754.
