Fake letter irks Banda

that she had resigned due to sickness.
President Banda on Saturday denied having authored the letter and said she was not sick.
“I’ve engaged lawyers and the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter,” she told journalists upon arrival from an official visit to Equatorial Guinea.

According to the president, the letter was addressed to the speaker of Malawi Parliament.
According to Nyasa Times, the State House is deeply dismayed by a fake and forged “resignation letter” allegedly advising the Honourable Speaker of Malawi National Assembly that she is no longer able to execute her executive duties due to alleged “health problems”.

The letter alleges that President Banda had decided to resign following alleged “doctors’ advice”.
The State House said at no time has President Joyce Banda explicitly or implicitly resigned as Malawi’s Head of State.

The State House believes this alleged resignation letter was the work of desperate confusionists.  — Nyasa Times/Xinhua.
