financial institution.
Abgail Chiuzeni (41) was last week brought to Court and appeared before Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini charged with fraud. She was sentenced to 10 months behind bars. Two other suspected fraudsters, Bothwell Kahuta (26) and Tarisai Bridget Kuimba (26) recently appeared before Mr Shane Kubonera facing the same charges.
The two were remanded to June 21 this year and Kahuta who has two outstanding warrants was remanded in custody while Kuimba was granted US$100 bail. Chiuzeni was convicted on her own plea of guilty before being sentenced to 10 months in prison.
Mr Jarabini suspended three months for five years on condition Chiuzeni does not commit a similar offence within that period.
The remaining seven months were suspended on condition she performs 245 hours of community service at Glen Norah police station. Appearing for the State Mr Ray Nembo said that on June 7 this year, Chiuzeni made fake Salary Service Bureau (SSB) payslips for April and May this year purporting that she was employed by the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture.
She also fraudulently made a fake bank statement and a letter of confirmation. Chiuzeni is said to have gone to FMC Financial Services where she presented the fake documents in a bid to secure a US$600 loan.
She was given a loan application form, which she completed and submitted together with the fraudulent documents after using a fake address.
The loan, which was payable in three months was approved and she was advised to come back and collect the money after two days.
However, before she was given the money, the officials verified the account she provided with ZB bank, which stated that she was once the account holder, which was no longer in use.
Further investigations revealed that the stamp on the bank statement was fake.
She was arrested on June 8 at FMC premises while waiting to collect the money.
