Popular comedian David Mubaiwa who is widely known as Sabhuku Vharazipi has distanced himself from the fake comedy titled “Sabhuku Vharazipi 3” that is being sold on the streets.
Vharazipi said it was a disgrace for pirates to shortchange people by just taking scenes from his previous release “Vharazipi 2” and mixing them with other fake scenes.
“They just took some scenes from ‘Vharazipi 2’ and added a few acts that are not ours, which is unprofessional as it causes among the people,” he said.
Vharazipi urged people not to buy the fake comedy.
“People should not be duped of their hard earned cash by these pirates.
“We will officially announce the date of the release of our project,” he said.
He said pirates took advantage of the delayed release of a new product from his group.
“Authorities must take action against this because it is killing our future as artists and the arts industry at large,” he said.
He said he has since put on hold the production of “Vharazipi 3” because of piracy.
“We were forced to do live performances because we did not get much from our previous production due to piracy.
“This has affected the people involved in the production so it becomes difficult for us to continue with productions,” he said.
Vharazipi has joined other comedians who in the past took time to release their projects fearing piracy.
Enock Chihombori of the Gringo fame said they were affected by piracy and they would take time to produce another production.
Freddy Kapfupi Manjalima is one comedian who has never smiled as most of his projects were affected by piracy making him lose substantial amounts of money.
