THERE was drama at Mbare Police Station in Harare after a man claiming to be from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) was busted for impersonation!
Tinotenda Maunganidze, according to ZACC spokesperson Simiso Mlevu, found himself on the wrong side of the law after allegedly posing as a ZACC officer in a bold attempt to free a traffic offender.
Maunganidze approached ZRP Officer Wilbert Ngandu, instructing him to release Tatenda Chidziva—who had been nabbed for traffic violations along Ardbennie Road. Flashing authority and confidence, Maunganidze claimed he was from ZACC.
But Officer Ngandu wasn’t fooled.
Instead of bowing to pressure, the sharp cop demanded proof. That’s when Maunganidze pulled out a card—from the Zimbabwe National Anti-Corruption Organization (ZINACO)—an organization that has nothing to do with ZACC.
Smelling a rat, Ngandu alerted the real ZACC, and the imposter was swiftly arrested.
Maunganidze is expected to appear in the Harare Magistrates’ Court today, May 3, for his initial remand.
Nice try, fake cop—but the law doesn’t fall for fake IDs!
