FALCON College on Thursday saw the beginning of a three-day cricket workshop which is being hosted by three Australian legends at the Mzingwane top educational institute.
The three-day camp ends on Saturday.
This is part of Grassroots Australia and has coaches like John Buchanan, a winner of two World Cups with Australia involved.
“Buchanan (John) has been to Zimbabwe twice but he is not travelling this year, other coaches include Trevor Chappell, Peter Buchanan and Paul Wilson,” Prince Manyika said who is one of the organisers.
This tour has Australian legend Trevor Chapell who and Peter Buchanan.
The camp is covering both boys and girls from 6-12 years and teenagers from 13-18. Fifty children are expected to attend from Matabeleland schools.
“We are expecting 50 kids to attend from many different schools around the country, mainly from Matabeleland South.”
“The coaches have developed a deep understanding of how to implement and strengthen cricket development at the grassroots level ensuring participants can be ready for the next major pathway,” Manyika explained.
The programme runs three structured sessions daily, that include skills assessment, gap analysis and foundational training for beginners.
Match play will feature T10 games for Colts and T20 games for juniors, workload management activities, conditioning, fine tuning beginners to level up and team dynamics.
