IN-form SBC Falcons thrashed Mpilo United 5-0 in a Bulawayo Amateur Football Association (Bafa) League at the Barbourfields Stadium outside grounds yesterday to stretch their unbeaten streak to 10.
A brace by Dumolwenkosi Ndlovu and a goal each by Victor Moyo and Budget Ncube, as well as an own goal gave Falcons maximum points.
The match started with both teams searching for an early lead and Mpilo could have gone ahead had Godfrey Muganiwa’s powerful free kick not been tipped over the bar by Falcons goal minder Promise Tarabuka.
Falcons took the lead in the 13th minute when Mpilo goalkeeper Itai Chandomba failed to deal with Ncube’s cross and Ndlovu headed home.
Ndlovu grabbed his second six minutes later when he pounced on a rebound after Chandomba again failed to deal with another attempt on goal.
Moyo made it 3-0 in the 35th minute when he latched onto Ncube’s through pass and directed it into the net.
Ncube scored the fourth goal in the 67th minute before a defender sealed his team’s nightmare with an own goal in the 85th minute.
Falcons’ president Tukai Haruzivishe was impressed with his team’s performance. “This is one of the matches that I have enjoyed watching. The boys have been improving in every match and that explains why we have gone for 10 consecutive matches without a loss. I would also like to salute my coach Kudzai Mhandire for the work he has done,” said Haruzivishe.
