The family of Mandlenkosi Mloyi, a local vendor, is in distress after he reportedly went missing under troubling circumstances that have left his relatives deeply concerned for his safety.
Mloyi, known for selling various items throughout the suburb, has not been seen since last week, prompting fears that his disappearance may be linked to ongoing political violence in the area.
A close relative of Mloyi revealed, “He has been a vendor here for many years, moving around the suburb selling his goods. In the lead-up to the recent harmonized elections, he was engaged by the Citizens Coalition for Change to distribute their campaign materials. He was just trying to earn a living while helping share their message.”
However, the relative recounted how Mloyi’s involvement with the opposition party led to unwanted attention. “Trouble started when he accidentally dropped a campaign flier at the home of a Zanu-PF supporter. After that, he became a target. They beat him and harassed him, demanding he reveal who his superiors were and accusing him of doing something illegal.”
The harassment escalated, and Mloyi’s family fears that he may have been abducted in retaliation for his political activities. “Now, he has gone missing, and we don’t know what has happened to him,” the relative said, their voice filled with anguish. “We are terrified for his safety and just want him to come home.”
As the family searches for answers, local authorities have been urged to take action, but many in the community express skepticism about their willingness to intervene in politically charged incidents. The ongoing political tensions in Zimbabwe continue to put the safety of citizens at risk, leaving families like Mloyi’s in a state of fear and uncertainty.
Relatives are calling on anyone with information about Mandlenkosi Mloyi’s whereabouts to come forward, hoping for a safe resolution to this distressing situation.
