A MUCHEKE family in Masvingo lost property worth $660 when four armed men raided its home.
Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Peter Zhanero said the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 12.45am.
“I confirm that there is a case of robbery that I have received in which a Mucheke family lost property to four suspects at gunpoint,” said Insp Zhanero.
“The suspects fled the scene after committing the crime and they are still at large. We appeal to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects. We, however, know that the long arm of the law will catch up with them.”
He said the owner of the house in Mucheke F, a man aged 40 was watching television with three family members aged five, 21 and 30 when the four entered his house armed with a pistol.
Insp Zhanero said the four forced open the kitchen door to gain entry.
He said one of the men produced a pistol and ordered everyone to lie down.
“One of the robbers produced a pistol before ordering the man and his family to lie down. They all complied after which the robbers demanded cash while the one with the firearm and apparently the ring leader ordered that the man be tied with a string on his legs,” said Insp Zhanero.
He said the robbers then ransacked the house and went away with property that included cellphones, five handbags and a wallet with $300.
