Family Voices plan countrywide tour

CHRISTIAN acapella group Family Voices are planning tours across Zimbabwe to promote their album Time for Breaking Through as the talented group spreads its wings to all the corners of the country. The eight-member group makes waves wherever they perform with their melodic harmonic voices that give a contemporary feel to acapella.

The group has become versatile and has added musical instruments by using their voices to make drum beats and guitar melodies, something that is a first in Zimbabwe and breathtaking to watch.

One of the group’s members Ronald Sithole said the national tour was to give Zimbabwe a taste of Family Voices.

“We’ve been performing in the city for the past years and we think it’s high time we take our music across the country. The tour will be to promote our album and let people know who Family Voices are,” he said.

“Gospel music isn’t only for Christian consumption and we try by all mans to incorporate non-Christians in our music and make sure we remain relevant too’’.

Sithole said they were on the drawing board on how to tour Zimbabwe and were seeking sponsorship from well-wishers.

“What we know is that we shall start off in Harare then go to every major city and town in the country. We’re still in the planning stage of all this and we’re looking for sponsorship to that effect,” he said.

Sithole said they set March as a tentative month for them to start the tour.

He said they had been doing well since their album was released but still faced financial challenges.

“Sponsorship is still one of our major limitations as we could do more and achieve more with permanent arrangements. We plan to tour South Africa and other places in the world but what we need is sponsorship,” said Sithole.

He said fans should expect more collaborations this year as they featured on an upcoming album by Rami Chuene, aka Kgomotso, from Muvhango.

Family Voices which had been singing for years had no album to their name.

In August they launched their first album at the Family of God auditorium in front of a full house that included Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Nomthandazo Eunice Moyo and some of the Muvhango cast including Chief Azwindini, Mulimisi and Kgomotso.

In May last year, the eight-member group comprising Tinashe Chitsaka, Luke Kamanga, Sithole, Bobby James, Bazel Mafu, Michael Sibanda, Melusi Sibanda and Brighton Ncube was invited to South Africa to join the Muvhango family in celebrating its 2,000 episode mark on SA screens with a role to sing at Thandaza and Ranthumeng’s wedding.
