FAMILY’S 20-YEAR SEARCH FOR MISSING DAUGHTER

AHEARTBROKEN family from Insiza District is desperately searching for a woman they have not seen in nearly 20 years after she reportedly disappeared from family circles as a child.

Relatives say they are appealing to the public for help in locating Sindisiwe Ndlovu, believed to be around 28 or 29 years old, who was born in Norton before later moving between rural Insiza and Harare.

Sindisiwe is the daughter of Godfrey Ndlovu of the Tshili family in Vokola, Insiza District. Godfrey is currently based in South Africa while relatives in Zimbabwe continue the emotional search.

Family spokesperson Sithembinkosi Nyoni said the family lost contact with Sindisiwe during the mid-2000s when communication in rural areas was still difficult and mobile phones were not common.

“We are not looking for her because of any dispute or problem. We simply want to reconnect with our daughter and relative. The whole family has been searching for her for years,” said Nyoni.

According to the family, Sindisiwe stayed briefly in Vokola around 2006 and 2007 after her parents separated. During that period, she reportedly lived with her father’s relatives and her stepmother, identified only as NaNkosi.

She later moved to Swinge area in Insiza where she stayed with her aunt, Sitshengisiwe Ndlovu, and attended Siwazi Primary School for a short time before returning to Harare after her late mother, Catherine, reportedly asked her to come back.

“There were no quarrels or misunderstandings. She was just a child then and eventually returned to Harare,” Nyoni said.

The death of her mother later weakened contact between Sindisiwe and her paternal family.

In what the family believes could be a major breakthrough, NaNkosi recently revealed that years later she unexpectedly met a woman she recognised as Sindisiwe while working at offices linked to the City of Harare near Africa Unity Square.

However, before they could exchange contact details, NaNkosi reportedly left the workplace and contact was lost again.

The family now believes Sindisiwe could still be living somewhere in Harare and may also have two sisters from her mother’s side.

Anyone with information regarding Sindisiwe Ndlovu’s whereabouts is being urged to contact her aunt, Sitshengisiwe Ndlovu, on +263 71 593 1503.
