SOME say he is a “one-hit wonder”, others view him as the king of local hip-hop. That is perhaps why most of music followers are interested on what Cal_Vin is going to bring at the table when he opens the stage for the South African flamboyant rapper Cassper at the Large City Hall Car Park on Friday.
While Nyovest will be expected to perform latest hits from his new album Thutho with hits like Tito Mboweni, pressure weighs heavily on Cal_Vin’s shoulders who admitted he will not perform new tracks on the day of the show.
“I am not going to perform anything new. I will perform songs from my previous albums like Bebengakholwa, Shosholoza and Jeki. If fans ask me to perform Z’khuphan with Nyovest, I will appreciate to fulfil their special request,” he said.
His inspiration, Nyovest has established himself not only as an independent artiste but also as a businessman. The Luveve boy could have escaped Zimbabwe for greener pastures to South Africa after featuring Nyovest.
Cassper could have signed him considering the “foreign policy” the Doc Shebeleza hit maker has adapted in his Family Tree Company as he signed another Zimbabwean rapper Nadia Nakai and Gemini Major from Malawi.
