PROSPER CHIGUMBA and Dominic Chungwa might not have taken part in the Harare Derby on Sunday, but the duo still had something to cheer their spirits after winning the Fans’ Player of the Month for July and August.

Chigumba who was the ‘keeper for Makepekepe in July, has since fallen down the pecking order and sat on the terraces as Jorum Muchambo deputised Edmore Sibanda on Sunday.

Chungwa was also on the sidelines as he was serving his one-match PSL suspension after picking three yellow cards. But the pair still went back home smiling after bagging the fans’ awards.

The players each received food hampers worth over $300. The Fans’ Player of the Month Award is bankrolled by the team’s fans going by the name, Caps United Latest, a Whatsapp group which has a contract with the team for sponsoring the prize.

The fans representative, Zivanai Mandaza, said they are doing this for the love of the club. “We are doing this as CAPS United supporters as there is need to support our team in good and bad times. We have noted that because of the tough times the players need our support so we are doing our best.

“We will continue to honour our outstanding players for the good work they are doing for the team,” said Mandaza.
