A few weeks after announcing that their new album will be titled “Havasikutiziva” Suluman Chimbetu’s camp has promised to consider fans’ views in choosing the final name. The album is set for release in August and Sulu’s publicist Joe Nyamungoma has revealed they will avail other possible names and task their fans to choose their favourite.“There is so much in a name. Yes, an album’s strength is determined by its contents but we believe the best name should go with a good album. We cannot ask our fans to compose songs but we can make them feel they have contributed to the album through such a move. They will choose the name of the album because it is their album. We will just fill in the contents and deliver their package,” he said.
Nyamungoma said the album name ‘polls’ will begin this Sunday at Spaceman Bar in Glen Norah when they stage a family show.
“Voting will start on Sunday in Glen Norah. Other names will be unveiled and fans will choose their best. The process will continue at our shows throughout the country and the most popular name will be the title of Sulu’s next album.”
Since the talk of Sulu’s new album, the musician’s live performances have improved.
Last week he defied the odds at The Volt where people came in numbers when many other shows in the capital flopped. He has embarked on a mission of taking the new songs to people.
Tonight he performs at Destiny Night Club in Westlea alongside Progress Chipfumo and tomorrow he will be at Takarangana Night Club in Hatcliff. The Sunday show in Glen Norah, where the album name debate begins, will be a family event. Last year the musician released the album “Gunship”, which was another success story with songs such as “Nyuchi”, “Idah Nhoro”, “Foni” and “Moto” being popular with many.
