RUSAPE has a football club which is dreaming of playing in the domestic Premiership.
Midway are sitting in pole position in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League after three games.
They have a perfect nine points, the same as ambitious Masvingo side FC Wangu Mazodze, with the two clubs separated only by goal difference. Midway, who are renovating their home ground, are currently playing their home matches at Vengere.
Robson Chishoma is the head coach.
They are newboys in the league and are based at the Midway farm.
Because of their farming background, they are nicknamed the Farmers.
Midway chairman, Never Mudhadhada, said they want to continue with their fairytale run. “We have started well and we would like to finish strongly,” he said.
“As a club, who are having their first debut season in Division One, we are still facing some challenges but we know with time we shall get some stability.
“At the moment, we are focusing on keeping pushing and trying to get results that will see us through.
“Given the chance to be in the PSL, it is our own dream too.
“We will embrace it and utilise the chance. Teams are finding it difficult to play against us as they don’t know the structure of our team yet.”
Meanwhile, Golden Eagles crashed to a 1-2 defeat at the hands of PAM in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One soccer league.
MWOS edged Banket United 1-0 in a match watched by a good and lively crowd at Ngoni Stadium in Norton.
The home team are now one of the most supported clubs in the league.
Herentals Under-20 were held to a goalless draw by Chinhoyi Stars, Harare City edged Karoi United 1-0, Black Mambas thrashed Concession United 4-0.
Commando Bullets were held to a 1-1 draw by ZRP Harare, Omnia featured in a goalless stalemate with Shamva and Pirates were held to a goalless draw by Trojan.
